Are New Installations Blocked?

I am attempting to install the very latest Intel Clear Linux 43800 ISO on a new Intel Core Ultra machine with a Core Ultra 5 245K and Gigabyte Z890 AORUS Elite Wifi7. However, when I reach the Test Network Settings stage it says “Testing connectivity” Network Check Failed even though I have a working Realtek RTL8125 2.5Gb ethernet adapter which has an IP address and can ping out.

The error message I receive when running the command clr-network-troubleshooter is

It apears the websites are returning HTTP 403 ERROR codes which is preventing the installation of Clear Linux. I was under the assumption that Clear Linux had an offline installer mode but I tried it without a network connection and it still cannot proceed past this step. Does anyone know if there are any workarounds for this as this could effectively prevent any future installations of Intel Clear Linux?

Hi,

ClearLinux is end of support from July 2025

I realize that but some people like myself may still try and attempt to install it. I even tried setting up individual partitions such as

CLR_BOOT (EFI)

CLR_ROOT (ext4)

CLR_HOME (ext4)

CLR_SWAP

and then mounting these partitions off of

/mnt/clearlinux

and then running the command

swupd os-install /mnt/clearlinux

However this command fails out as I believe swupd can no longer access the default Intel Clear Linux repositories

https://cdn.download.clearlinux.org/update/

https://download.clearlinux.org/update

effectively making it not possible to install the operating system anymore even if you wanted to.

That’s right, Intel shut everything down, so swupd and all its repositories are offline.

I you want i can send SSD with CL installed, i use this distro con old Acer with AMD A8

Yes I to can confirm network installs are blocked, I had the same thing happen to me with a VMware install around a week and 1/2 ago.

Thanks for the offer. Fortunately I have two installs which I believe were fully updated before the repositories were shut down. I may have to look into how to clone these installs so I can put them on other drives since it appears new installs are no longer possible without a working repository.

I am trying to install flatpak on my ClearLinux installation. I am interested in the SSD you offered. What release(s) of ClearLinux do you have? (I am at version 43760.)

Hi, I’m running kernel 6.15.4-1587.

I just turned on the laptop, and since I had installed it for my mom who basically never used it I don’t remember the user password anymore. I do remember the root password, but for some strange reason I still can’t log in.

Are you aware of an .img or .ISO version still out in the wild? Even if there is one out in the wild, would it still fail because the mothership is gone (https://cdn.download.clearlinux.org/releases)?

This sounds like a horror movie - is there no hope (for me) to install FLATPAK?

Thx!
