Clear Linux reboots instead of shutdown

I’m using clear linux for scientific computing for past 2yrs. It’s significantly faster than any other linux distro. Sincere thanks to developers.

I was using CL on my lab desktop. Instead of shutdown, it’ll restart everytime. Since I don’t shutdown the lab desktop, I didn’t bother to solve. Now, due to pandemic, lab was not accessible and I am using my desktop for simulations. It’s a Mac mini with i5 and running CL via external flash.
Here the issue is different, i.e. I am not able to shutdown the machine. It log says
end Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! Exit code 0x0000000b.

And freezes there. I need to poweroff while pressing power button from there.

I am not a computer engineer but I suppose the issue is similar here, the CL restarts instead of shutdown and some clash is between apple and systemd boot.

Mac is not connected to LAN. Wifi and Bluetooth are not recognised as the drivers are not yet installed. I’m using thunderbolt port for booting.

Let me know if you need any other information.
Please help me to solve this issue
