So far I have added the bundles desktop-autostart and desktop to the Hyper-V vhdx image that was provided.

This has not yielded the desired result, which is to connect to my VM in Hyper-V and see the GUI start upon boot. I’ve already rebooted the VM after the bundle desktop-autostart was installed.

Any help appreciated.

desktop-autostart will work if the VM detects a GL capable DRI device. Likely, that will not work, so it doesn’t start. To force starting the desktop at boot, do sudo systemctl enable gdm.service and reboot the VM.
