I agree, the documentation is too indirect about doing the decompression. I noticed this last week and registered this issue to have it updated:

Feel free to add any more suggestions to the issue. There is also a linked discussion on whether the ISO file should be compressed going forward.

This threw me for a loop a bit; I believe the devs found and used Rufus for Windows, which is really simple solution. Yes, I agree, isn’t exactly easy for people coming from linux…
