Impossible to connect to an google account

Hi,

I can’t connect Gnome to my Google accounts …
I waited 5 minutes still nothing

It works perfect for others accounts…

( CPU : 8 Cores Intel(R) Core™ i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz, RAM : 16 Go )

Jul 28 22:24:23 localhost-localdomain org.gnome.Settings.SearchProvider[12036]: Failed to create account: Dialog was dismissed

Same problem with my HP Pavilion 11 x360

If somebody can help…

Try :

sudo glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/

If that doesn’t work, disable IPv6 or install the evolution email client.

Would pixelgeek have any ideas for this

Sorry, that’s not something I’ve ever tried.

OK, I just tried, and it doesn’t work for me either. Trying to connect a Google account prompts me to login in a browser, which I can successfully do, and grant GNOME permissions, but then it drops me back at the Google homepage, and never refreshes the settings dialog box which keeps waiting for a response.

Chris

Looks like there is no associated schema for x-scheme-handler/com.googleusercontent.apps.44438659992-7kgjeitenc16ssihbtdjbgguch7ju55s
It looks like gnome-online-accounts should supply this, but even after installing

sudo swupd bundle-add devpkg-gnome-online-accounts

it’s not working.

Maybe @btwarden can shed some light here…

Thanks for trying to figure this out

Sounds like @btwarden has some ideas, but won’t be able to get to it until next week.

I had a chance to look this week, identified the underlying problem, and pushed a solution:

It will probably be in the next release after 42170.

Confirmed that the fix is present in releases >= 42180.
