I wanted to change the desktop environment to mate/cinnamon /xfce.
how do i do that?
There is a bundle in the CL repository - xfce4-desktop. After installing it you can select the desktop environment on the login screen.
Mate/cinnamon install only manually. See https://mate-desktop.org and https://projects.linuxmint.com/cinnamon/
