Displaylink drivers not working (can't install)

Displaylink is a DisplayPort driver used by some Lenovo Docking Stations.

I have one of these Lenovo Docking Stations that relies on Displaylink to use the 4k Monitor connected via DP to my docking station.

The docking station’s USB peripherals (keyb, mouse) all seem to work except for the DP monitor.

In order to be able to use the external monitor via the docking station, I need to install the Displaylink software.

The Displaylink sw vendor only supports Ubuntu but has released info for other parties on how to adapt it to suit their distribution (here: Porting the DisplayLink Ubuntu driver to other Linux distributions – DisplayLink Support)

I’ve tried to acquire Displaylink for Ubuntu & followed their instructions to get it to work on Clear Linux 'though I got stuck at libdrm (libdrm seems missing on Clear Linux).

Note: I did follow the instructions & recommendations on this similar topic Displaylink / EVDI in Clear Linux - #7 by rAngeles but my issue about libdrm seems to persist.

Here’s the raw output of my 1st attempt at getting Displaylink installed:

I’ve received the same error. It seems odd that we’re the only ones with this issue.

We’ve had this issue with so many distros that we eventually ended up swapping all our docking stations for graphics with adapter hubs. So glad we did it too. Some of the folks like go home and plug into their TV’s, car audio/video etc.

Here’s a potential workaround to those still interested on getting DisplayLink docks to work on Clear Linux:
