Has anyone come across display freezing issues in GNOME 48 (CL 43150)? Behavior looks similar to this, where they concluded that it is caused by a Mutter bug.
I backported kms/impl-device: Always catch pending KMS update in _schedule_process · GNOME/mutter@d6005b5 · GitHub into mutter-48.0-181, so look for that in a release (yes, 43160) in a few days.
Looks like that might be 43160? If yes, you da man, dude!
Er, I replied too soon. 43160 does not seem to have resolved display freezing issues.
Yeah, I noticed that. There are still some issues left. I get around them using Ctrl + Alt + F5 followed by Alt + F1.
OK, I backported 4 more patches to line up with what OpenSUSE releases as mutter-48.0+5. This will be mutter-48.0-182 in our next release.
Watch for it like this:
$ curl -s https://download.clearlinux.org/releases/current/clear/source/package-sources | grep ^mutter
mutter 48.0 181
Anychance you guys’ll be releasing 43220 today?
This Mutter bug is killing me!
Hello, the freshman here. Just install Clear Linux very first time. So far so good. How do I update to Gnome 48? I’m on 43200 build according to system information in Gnome settings. And there Gnome version 47 in system details. And you talking here about earlier builds and on gnome 48 already. Am I missing something?
If you go to a terminal and type
gnome-shell --version
you’ll see it report “GNOME Shell 48.0”.
Gnome is made up of many modules, and I suspect one of the modules that gnome-control-center (the GUI) looks at hasn’t been updated yet.
Chris
In did it is a 48. Thank you.
Hey Brett, this 43210 release has been torturing us for at least 10 days: any chance we will see something new today please?
43250 should be hitting the wire today, and should have the fix for Mutter in it.
Chris
And with Clear Linux version 43250, the Gnome settings GUI is now correctly reporting Gnome version 48.
Hallelujah!!!
Did it work? Enquiring minds want to know…
Heading home now. Will let you know in a couple of hours.
Things look good so far! No monitor freezes, really smooth! Great job, CL team!!!
Otherwise, terminal fonts are still screwed up.
I think I’ve figured out what’s going on there. I’ll work with @btwarden to get it fixed.
Stay tuned!
Display happily sleeps and wakes. Thank you
