I have a question. In the download area, clicking on “Download Latest” redirects me to the FTP for version 42100. By going up a directory, I can download the ISO for version 42840. What are the differences between these versions? Additionally, why does installing version 42100 only allow me to update to version 42790?
Looks like the script to update the version numbers for desktop isn’t working correctly. @alexjch Can you take a look?
You should be able to update from 42100 to 42840. If you can’t, then it’s probably a CDN propagation lag, and waiting a bit may resolve the issue. If it doesn’t, we may have a bug.
Hello @pixelgeek and @alexjch
thank you for the support. Yesterday, I downloaded the ISO 42840 and installed it on an HP 840 G5. Once the setup was complete, I had the correct version.
I went home and tried to install it on the desktop I have at home, an HP 550-132nl, but once the installation was complete, instead of getting version 42840, I got version 42790.
Running swupd update tells me that I already have the latest version installed. Tonight, when I get home, I’ll try running the update again and let you know if the problem persists.
Hi, can you check again? i have a same issue i cant update to 42890
root@sal8/home/marco # swupd update
Update started
Version on server (42870) is not newer than system version (42870)
Update complete - System already up-to-date at version 42870
That’s because 42890 hasn’t been released at the time of this post. We upload the actual content to the CDN before testing is completed and the release is approved. That way, when we actually approve a release, only a couple of tiny text files have to be uploaded to make it fully available to swupd.
