Warning: No Safe Media Found for Installation

Hi,

I am trying to install on a 111.8GB SSD, with 17.33GB free space.

I get the option for a Destructive Installation, but when I choose a Safe Installation, I get the error message: ‘Warning: No Safe Media Found for Installation’.

Can you help?

Thanks

clrlinux@clr-live~ $ lsblk
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
loop0 7:0 0 2.2G 1 loop
sda 8:0 0 111.8G 0 disk
├─sda1 8:1 0 512M 0 part
├─sda2 8:2 0 91.8G 0 part
└─sda3 8:3 0 2.2G 0 part
sr0 11:0 1 2.4G 0 rom

EDIT: I am just using the cli installer (‘sudo su’, and then ‘clr-installer’ for anyone else reading this) which seems to detect the free space for a safe installation.

Seach this page for “Select Installation Media”, regarding Safe or Destructive Install.

I got around it by using gparted to create an empty space (not partitioned) in my disk.

Yes, I did all this.

This seems to me to be a bug. The GUI installer doesn’t recognise the free space. The command line installer does recognise it.

In my post I mentioned I had 17GB free space. I made this using gparted.

Did you check your BIOS settings for that particular drive ?

SATA Controller Mode / IDE Compatibility Mode.
