Best gaming OS?

I may be the only one who’s tried Clear as a games system but I recently put it on a potato (Lenovo Yoga 380) with Steam and Proton.

The difference running something like Aerofly is palpable with much smoother frame rates - I don’t have two identical machines to try this but it’s almost like the old joke about “Does it run Crysis”? Which I don’t have but with the dramatic improvement in system response (with Intel graphics) has to be be seen to be experienced.

That’s interesting. I haven’t tried much gaming with it yet, I wonder if it also improves performance when using an Nvidia GPU or of that huge performance boost is because you’re using the in built Intel graphics.

I remember having some crazy FPS (compared to Windows) on CSGO, which made sense as CSGO nowadays is mostly CPU bounded, and I would expect that to be the main difference between the two OS (at least on an NVIDIA GPU, I don’t know how much different their driver implementation is for Windows and Linux).

Curious if CachyOS can outperform CL with gaming…
