it would be nice to be able to update software without having to wait for the next clear linux version
Clear Linux can only be updated as a whole, not by individual bundles
Everything in Clear Linux is geared around the same version number. If you wanted to update individual packages, you could run your own mix of Clear Linux which would give you complete control over which packages to update and when and allow you to include your own set of packages. Having said that, running your own mix is not for the faint of heart.
And of course, you can always install non-clear linux packages asynchronously.
