CL and Thunderbolt docking stations

Anybody here rockin’ CL on laptop (closed lid) hooked up to monitors via Thunderbolt (4 or preferably 5) docking station? Experiencing by any chance any reboot issues?

What model do you have? Have you checked if there are firmware updates for both the laptop and the docking station?

I have an HP Docking G5, but so far I haven’t used it with the laptop running ClearLinux

CableMatters TB5 dock, and an OWC TB5 hub, both hooked up to an LG Gram.

Fat chance.

Would you do me a favor–if it’s not too much of a hassle, that is–and try to replicate this setup: laptop (closed lid) → dock → USB C to DP adapter → DP monitor, and let me know if your monitor(s) light up after reboot? After reboot, my monitors automatically go to sleep, and the only way to wake them up is to restart the docking station. Very frustrating.

As far as I can tell, this happens with both TB4 and TB5 docks/hubs.

Hi, I can’t replicate your setup because my docking station has most of the commonly used ports built in, so I don’t need an additional adapter for the monitors, apart from being a Thunderbolt 4.

The USB C to DP is connected directly to laptop or is attached on Dock?

USB C to DP adapter is attached to dock.

If the LG Gram has another USB4/Thunderbolt port, have you tried connecting the C to DP adapter directly there to see if it restarts?

Good idea. Will do, and report back.
