You are not the only one… the Software Center needs some serious work.
We used to have a CMS that supported searching, but we have since switched to static pages. So yes, as businex says, the software store needs some serious work. Paging through the pages works for the first hundred or so, but searching on Google might be easier. Also the index is quite outdated…
Your best bet is to search using the swupd CLI.

I hear ya, & it may not be a focus for some distros, but like myself finally getting fed up with how W has ended up, chasing something with easy options/gui, similar to selecting apps for browser/phone, vs frustrations trying to work out all the various Konsole functions, swupd one of many.
I’m a retired 60s model with time to fiddle on my hands, that others still juggling non-tech jobs, kids, etc, lack. So like since Bill post in his garage days, many will be suck on W or A, until L is as simple to operate, less time consuming.
With the side panel or search function, easier for average n00b users to find basic software like email, office, pdf, few games, etc, have all the advanced stuff their never going to need on an advanced page for those that know what they are & how to use them.
However, what can’t the average user do in a browser these days, google has email, docs, photos, everything they need. Imagine a light weight distro that was just a browser, no desktop. Couldn’t be simpler, could it?
